The fifth graders have been busy learning about the election process leading up to election day on November 3rd. They are learning the difference between the electoral vote vs. the popular vote as well as primary elections and caucuses. They even got to talk about what laws they would enact were they to be elected President of the United States someday!

  • Winter Uniform begins on Monday, November 2nd

  • November is All Religions month at HCA. If you or someone you know would be willing to share with a class, a division, or multiple groups either in person, via zoom, or through a pre recorded clip, please email jmyers@holychildacademy.com , and we will make it as easy as possible.

We continue to celebrate All Abilities Month at HCA. We are grateful to Acting Without Boundaries for presenting to our students and helping HCA learn about and celebrate all abilities!

 Our fifth graders celebrated Founder's Day this week by reading the amazing story of Cornelia Connelly and coloring in pictures of important scenes from her life. They made a video so they could share it with our third and fourth graders. Everyone did a great job and all agreed that Cornelia Connelly's story is indeed inspirational.

As part of our focus on mindfulness in Next Steps, Mrs. Lewis led a yoga session with our fifth grade students.  Students are also working on wellness journals at the beginning of each class.  We will continue to focus on individual wellness and ways to cope with stress and anxiety during this unique school year.

    Our fifth grade students have spent the last few weeks learning some of the fundamentals of geography in their social studies class, starting with the solar system. They engaged in some immersive learning by pretending to be a planet and had fun "rotating" and "revolving" around the sun. They are also learning about the Northern and Southern hemispheres, the equator, and how to identify coordinates on a map. Soon they will be expert map readers!

  • Only HCA sweatshirts may be worn with the uniform.  They are available for purchase for $25.00.

  • Students should have a pair of headphones/earbuds for STEAM class each week.
